Will they ever let me groom the Pony???

We look forward to teaching you about what we LOVE..........Horses

PROGRAMS OFFERED

NEW!! Leadline Program for ages 2-4

We have had numerous requests to offer classess for younger children. Additionally, my daughter has been riding since age 2 and has already been to her first show at Upperville this Summer! All of this has sparked my creative nature to develop a program that includes toddlers and their parents. It is meant to be an exposure to horses/ponies in a safe and fun learning environment.  The cost of this class is only $30 for a half hour private session. The parent will be an assistant to the instructor the entire session. For more details, please contact me any time. Thanks!!

The Pre-School Pony Program is dedicated to children ages 5-7.  The focus of this program is building a solid foundation with basic riding skills and safety while keeping fun in mind.  In addition to developing proper riding skills, these children build confidence and self-esteem.  All lessons begin in a 50 foot round pen with ponies led by the instructor.  As the child learns the necessary skills and develops their confidence, the lead rope is removed and the instructor moves further away from the pony and student, always ready to step in to reassure or assist as necessary.

Each one of our ponies/horses have an assigned "color" associated with them to help us to be more organized around the barn, and to further ensure the proper grooming tools go with that pony. Horses/ponies should never share grooming items...would you share your hairbrush with your neighbor...I don't think so??Smile
Additionally, we have found that it is especially helpful to  the younger students to learn to get their tack/grooming supplies all by themselves!

As the children progress through the building blocks of the Preschool Pony Program, they will develop the skills and confidence to control their ponies independently

The Beginner Riding Program is for children seven years of age or older and adults who have had little to no exposure to horses and horseback riding.  The student, horse, and instructor work together using a “Team Approach”, to build a foundation for riding success.  Students learn how to use a positive attitude improving self confidence, self esteem, and self respect along the way.  We help the student focus on “what I can do” and “what I will do” rather than “what I can’t do” and “what my horse won’t do”.

The beginner student will learn how to handle a horse on the ground in addition to learning balance in the saddle.

Walk, trot, transitions, and patterns are the riding skills we focus on at this level.

The Intermediate Riding program is for children 7 yrs. old or older who have developed the basic riding skills necessary to be safe and comfortable riding at a walk and trot.

This program continues to hone the basic riding skills and adds cantering and more complex transitions and pattern work to the lesson plan.  Once the student is comfortable in the saddle introductions to jumping, dressage, competitive trail riding, 4-H and other areas of interest can be added to the program.

Advanced Riding Instruction and trailer in lessons are offered/welcome to riders who have accomplished the above skill sets, showing, and/or have been riding for several years.

In addition to Private instruction, semi-private lessons are encouraged to build friendships and the additional skills needed to ride with others.

ALL students at Forest Grove Stables, LLC are offered instruction on equine behavior/instincts, horse care /grooming, basic stable management/nutrition,safety around horses, anatomy/physiology/biomechanics, tack cleaning/maintenance, saddling/bridling, and putting on a halter/tying.

"Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of Solitaire. It is a grand passion."

Customer Testimonials:

♥ "I just wanted to thank you for what you have done for me.  I never dreamed I would be able to give my daughter her dearest wish, a horse of her own.  But thanks to you, she now has this amazing pony to treasure.  More importantly, she is becoming such a responsible, and caring child.  When she is with the horses, her shyness seems a thing of the past.  Her grandparents and teachers have recently commented on a new sense of strength and confidence in Cami.  The time she spends in her lessons, and learning how to manage and care for Tiffany makes her so proud of herself.  She loves you, and being a part of 'stable' life.  She has now changed what she wants to be when she grows up - from a horse vet to a stable owner!

Thanks again for all you've done, and continue to do for our family.  You've made a little girl's dream come true, and I can't tell you how much that means to me!"

-Jennifer

♥“I just wanted to take a minute and let you know how incredible of an experience the girls had today! Simone and Sofia were thrilled and had a blast. It was such an amazing confidence builder for Simone to ride today off the lunge line. It was a pleasant surprise, to say the least.

“We are so pleased with this program, and we're glad to be a part of it!”

-Kara

♥Dear Kim, I just wanted to tell you how very much Kayleigh has been enjoying her lessons.  She can't wait for me to take her there on Sundays!!
Thank you.

♥Forest Grove Stables provides a family-friendly environment that teaches total horsemanship.  Kim and her staff are committed to providing a safe, enjoyable experience for students and their families.  It’s the main reason we chose Forest Grove.

♥I love the fact that Lilly is learning to be a well-rounded horseman.  She isn’t only learning riding, but equine health, communication, feeding, general terms, grooming, tack care, and so much else that makes Forest Grove a lot more than just horseback riding.  It is nice to know that no matter how horses figure into Lilly’s later life, she has a solid, well-rounded equine foundation. And as is typical when an instructor is good, Lilly has no idea how much she is learning.  Everything you do is fun for her and she LOVES her lessons and time spent at the stable.

-Janice

♥After just four lessons I can tell Colin's experience at Forest Grove has had an effect on him that will last a lifetime. His personal gains have not come from riding on the pony but from caring for it. It brought tears to my eyes to see the ear to ear grin on his face when he looked at me as he walked the pony to the ring, all on his own. That smile said it all and is one I will never forget. He was in control and he was confident-exactly what my 7 year old boy needed!  I knew he had made a connection when I found a note in the car that read "I love Rudy. He is the best pony". It's not just a riding lesson; it is a life experience.
